Along our journeys through this most amazing country of Australia, we have met a cast of characters and they have all given us such an array of advice...some of it a bit racist...and other pearls of wisdom to help us along our way. We have collected these over the past 7 weeks and would like to present them to you all in the event you find yourselves in Australia and want to be extremely racist. We must note that these are not our beliefs and we had absolutely NO problems with the Aboriginal community...in fact they were all very friendly and mostly kept to themselves.
1) If you hit an Abo (short and kind of racist term for Aboriginal) while driving on the road, do not stop or get out of your var to help. Just continue driving until you get to the next town and alert the police from there. This is an actual law in Australia, as the Abo's believe in "an eye for an eye" and will kill you if you run over one of their tribal members.
Arc - from Waychorpe
2) Even though wallabies are cute and fuzzy, if they want your food they will climb on top of you, grab your shoulders and disembowel you with their back legs by tearing your stomach open from your ribcage down.
Rod - from Katherine
3) The best pies are camel pies cuz the meat is tender like lamb. I don't make roo (short for kangaroo) pies cuz roos have worms.
Fran - from Mataranka
4) The outback is the "brown country" and you must always lock your doors cuz they (the Aboriginals) will steal anything that isn't nailed down.
Helen and Fred - from Ayr
5) Them those long grasses (the Aboriginals). they could live in houses the government gives 'em, but they would rather live on a hill by the river.
Bruce - from Marla
6) If you are caught in a cyclone, head for the toilets.
Janet - from Townsville
7) Everything in Australia is tough - the bugs are tough, the roos are tough...hell, even the fuzzy bunny rabbits are tough.
Troy - Port Augusta
8) You should go to Coles and Woolworths 1 hour before they close because thy cut the price off their off meat in half.
The Pink Haired Lady - from Fraser Island
9) When you finish with your goon sack (goon is cheap nasty boxed wine that is about 16% alcohol), you can blow it up and use it as a pillow.
Geoff - Cessnock
10) You can also fill up your goon sack with water and re-freeze it and use it in your eskie to keep your new goon sacks cold.
Kelly - from Phillip Island
11) Your toilet hole at home is this big [indicates size of a toilet bowl at home] and yout toilet in a boat is this big [indicates size of toilet bowl on the boat that is about 5 times smaller than that at home]. Only poo, pee and paper in the boat toilet, When you poo a big log, then you have to cut it in half before flushing.
Simon - Airlie Beach
We hope you found these as racist and helpful as we did.
